What to do in Hong Kong for 2 days

By Jamie - April 10, 2017

It was our first time in Hong Kong. We did not know what to expect here, but from searching the net, I found out that transportation is easy because of their subways and is generally safe for tourists.
We only had 2 whole days to tour Hong Kong so our activities were jam-packed.  We actually had 3 days but it was raining hard the other day so we did not get to do our activities that day.
They have a nice big airport which has convenient and accessible transportation just outside of it.
You can find signs leading up to the bus terminal. We had to ride a bus to reach the place where we were staying.
The buses are numbered so you can find where a drop-off is nearest to your place.  I actually made a mistake of choosing the wrong bus since I did not know that we were booked in a different hotel (street) but thankfully the route of the bus we took was just also in Nathan Road. Since Nathan Road is a lengthy road, you really have to find the right bus to ride because in our case we had to walk a few blocks back with our luggage and cross the road to ride another bus because our hotel was way back.

So here are the Things to do in Hong Kong for 2 days:

1. Eat streetfood
Food in Hongkong is really not that cheap. However considering the fact that this is one of the Mega-cities, we kind of expected that, but the food we ate were delicious.
42 HKD (Siomai/wanton)
We were near a local eatery so we ordered their best-selling noodles which I assumed because it had a poster and people were eating it (late, around 9-10 pm) the night we arrived in Hongkong. We really loved this noodles. It had a big portion with lots of meat and a flavorful broth.
50 HKD (almost 6 USD)
2. Visit Disneyland (10 AM-9 PM)
It was all worth it to spend a day here. Actually, I do recommend 2 days if you have the time. It was so exhausting to enjoy Disneyland in just one day. We booked the tickets in the Klook app.
Train to Hongkong Disneyland
Even when I read that some people who went here said they felt like they were children again, I could not believe them. But going there myself and enjoying Disneyland personally, I finally understood what these people were saying. I must say that you must stay until the closing time to see fireworks and the parade.

3. Visit  The Peak Tram + Sky Terrace 428
We really had a rough day due to the bad weather this day. As you can see there is a fog all over the Sky Terrace 428, so we could not enjoy the night view of Hong Kong city but we get to experience the Peak Tram to get there. It was a fun and (a bit) scary ride because it was really high.
It was scary with just the thought that the tram travels Central district to Victoria Peak reaching an elevation of under 400 metres (1,312 ft). This was also booked via the Klook app.

4. Visit Madame Tussauds (Hong Kong)
My sister and I enjoyed this collection of wax figures of famous personalities.  This is located in the Sky Tower (second floor). I actually had been in Madame Tussauds in Bangkok.  This collection featured a lot of Korean actors and Korean pop artists which were very familiar to us thus we enjoyed it more. We also booked via the Klook app.
Johnny Depp was really handsome
Kim Soo Hyun from famous drama "My Love from the star"
Jackie Chan

Hallyu star Lee Jong Suk
5. Enjoy some window shopping in malls and street shopping
This mall is really luxurious because of its interior and wide space. It offers a variety of high-end brands. My mom bought something here for a friend so we got to roam this mall.
 Pacific Place in Admiralty
Right before we were to leave Hong Kong, we went to do some street shopping. Unfortunately, we were not able to see the opened shops in the Temple Night Street market because it was afternoon, so instead we went to the Ladies Market in Tung Choi Street.
Nelson Street
Ladies' Market
Even with haggling at Ladies’ Market, we shopped a bit on the expensive side.  Although there was a shop with the cheap jackets, there were many designer copies of goods. We just spent less than 30 minutes to see the whole market. We were prepared for the narrow and congested aisles like in our country comparable to Divisoria but a little bit better.  Prepare yourself for some heat since this is an outdoor market.  Also since it is located in the Mongkok area of Kowloon, it's jam-packed with people.

HOW TO GET THERE
  • Take the MTR to Mong Kok. The market opens at midday but really gets going in the mid-afternoon and stays open till 11 PM every day.
  • Take the escalator up from the platform and follow signs toward Exit E, called the Bank Centre exit. When the tunnel splits, turn towards E2.
  • At street level walk directly away from the MTR exit along Nelson Street (for two blocks), taking care when crossing roads, for one whole block and you will be in the middle of the Ladies Market.
6.  Do some sightseeing by walking in Nathan Road

Just a tip, make a basic itinerary of a few activities (1-3 only) for each day since train rides do take up some time but are really convenient.  With just a few activities in a day, it is way more possible to complete them and at the same time enjoy and experience your trip in Hong Kong.

Our trip was really brief but we had a glimpse of the busy and modern Hong Kong.  We wished we had more time and know the directions but I guess we can do things differently when we come back again.

So that's my list of things to do in Hong Kong.  How was your trip in Hong Kong? Do you have some places that you recommend visiting there? Please share your tips and recommendations in the comments section.
